Module Instructions: Cell Cycle (Lab)

Housekeeping

Cell Cycle and Meiosis are combined into one lab. I recommend completing the Cell Cycle lecture and then work on that section of the lab. Then watch the Meiosis lecture, and come back to finish the rest of the lab. I highly recommend completing The Cell Cycle module before the Meiosis module, as Meiosis is really just a variation of the Cell Cycle.

Here's a hint for this module (and any of the other modules that have processes). Go to youtube and type in the process you want to learn about and then the word 'animation' (e.g. "Cell Cycle animation") and then what I do is sort by ‘View Count.” You'll find tons of really awesome animations that help show you the steps of the process in a really neat way. I think it really helps with understanding.

Watch the Pre-Lab video.

Lab: Cell Cycle and Meiosis

I have combined the lab for this module with the next module, Meiosis. You should begin the Cell Cycle portion of the lab before moving onto the Meiosis module. You will submit the entire lab (Cell Cycle and Meiosis) to the Meiosis Module on Friday at 5pm on the date listed in the class calendar.

Below are some pointers for completing the Cell Cycle portion of the lab.

There are only a few questions in this lab. Be sure to complete all of the required actions in the rounded boxes indicated by the check mark: ☑. Using Figure 4 as an example, use the text of the lab (and information from the video), to complete the following tasks. In this example, the tasks have been completed in red.

Be sure to complete all of the tasks in the lab indicated by the check marks in the rounded boxes.

Problem 4 is challenging. You are not given the exact answer in the text. You have to use what you have learned about the cell cycle to figure out what went wrong.

Post-Lab: Cell Cycle

Complete the Post-Lab quiz by Friday at 5pm on the date listed in the class calendar.
